I began my first major project in my first semester of my first year at The University of Iowa. I had photographed women’s wrestling and found myself bonding with the team and the sport in general. So, I pitched the idea of covering the rapid expansion of girl’s and women’s wrestling around Iowa, and I did just that.
Throughout my time covering girl’s high school and AAU across Iowa, i made some irreplaceable bonds that I continue to nurture following publication. This project not only challenged me in a technical sense, but also helped me understand how forming bonds with the people you are photographing improves the quality of the photos.
Along with photographing, I wrote the piece that was featured both online and in The Daily Iowan paper.
